For my homegirls around the world, especially my fellow brown gals.
When I woke up this morning and checked my social media fields, the first few things that popped up were deeply xenophobic, misogynist and just all around wack. Gooooood morning, America. Is the election over yet? Did we manage to not elect a fascist demagogue? Did we remember to pay attention to who we're electing into Congressional, state and local positions?
Ugh... A lot of the time, when the world just seems terrible AF, I find a tune to blast, put the bass way the fuck up, put my headphones on, and get a good headnod session in. This was this morning's antidote: Kali Uchis, a Colombia-born American who grew up in Virginia making pretty damn good pop-ish, soulful R&B and hip hop that occasionally borders on electronic music. She grew up playing sax and piano, and generally has an interesting story and background. Here's her Wikipedia page.
Enjoy.
Now, pardon me while I go find some of my girls to ride with this evening.
